Dear joefm1218,
it sounds logicaly, but in our case it seems to be working otherwise. Is the usage of least restrictive group documented somewhere?
thanks, Bob

Browse All TopicsWe have updated evaluation license.bea (limited to 20 unique IPs) using UpdateLicense.sh with unlimited license. Anyway WebLogic behave like it uses the limited one. There are both unlimited and limited reords in the license.bea now. Limited records have not expired yet, but they are limited to 20 IPs.
What is the advance of interpretation of license.bea file? Is it possible, that WebLogic evaluates the limited license as significant despite there is an unlimited one before? Does it prefer records on top of file, or more powerful license?

I can't seem to locate the document that denotes this behavior. However, I have seen this specific behavior within my environment.
I had a 5 connection eval. After the 5th connection, I received all types of license exceptions. When I coupled the production/unlimited license with the eval license, I did not receive the exceptions after 5 connections.
Also, I have been told by BEA engineers that this is the case.

Weblogic will use the least restictive group before using the more restrictive group.
If you want, you can manually remove the more restrictive group all together (if the two groups provide license privileges to the same resources).
