Hi snorkelfish,
You can do like that. Like you said domain name cannot be changed.
After cloning, you need to change listen address which is the ip of network interface that weblogic listen for requst. This need to be done before start server, otherwise;server cannot start.
To change this go to domain folder and looking for config.xml which resides in conf or config folder.
This is xml-based file, you can use any text editor to seach "Listen Address" and edit to the ip address you want.
