Hi,
I occasionally need to restart Jboss server and it is taking too much time(more than 15 min usually). I have only two small projects in there. I start jboss server in eclipse ganymede.
Any solutions?

I just closed eclipse and tested it and it took 1m:44s without eclipse. Yes, much faster, but still slower than normal I think. My usual work environment is that I work with two browsers, a few files(MS word, excel file, some other editors), Window explorer, IM, VPN, oracle sqldeveloper and eclipse. I have Pentium 4 2.6 GHz and 2 GB RAM. Do you think it is time to upgrade?
1 min 44 second startup time for default configuration of jboss is acceptable on your PC. On my PC (which is similar) default startup of jboss without anything deployed takes ~1 min 20 sec.
I would propose to check memory usage using Windows Task Manager then all applications which you are using are started.
If it is close to 2 Gb in total definitely you need more RAM (or close unused applications)
I'm developing with IntelliJ IDEA (previously used also Eclipse) and from time to time I need to restart IDEA because memory usage of IDE is keep growing and sometimes reaches 1 Gb.
Normally I use also external DB on another server (of course if it could be applicable for you).
My companies double-dual core machines with 8GB of ram takes an out-of-the box jboss 1:07 to start up... After disabling things we didnt need like the hypersonic database we were able to get it under a minute.
Jboss is highly configurable and if you NEED it to be faster, try triming some of the fat from its base install. Although I dont know how much configuration it has when embedded in Eclipse and the like.
But if you are trying to make it as fast as possible look into maybe using tomcat as JBoss is nothing but 'tomcat on steroids' as I like to say... Jboss is in actuality running an embedded tomcat for its web services.
If you indeed only use web applications it is better to use tomcat, but if yo developing EJB applicationn then you need jboss (or another app server).

how long it takes to restart jboss without eclipse.
It could be just an issue with a lot of memory this is already used on your PC.
from my expirience eclipse uses too much memory ( as any IDE).
Just try to close eclipse and start jboss using command line.
If it is a case then the only solution install more memory on your PC.
"Normal" development machine should have ~2Gb RAM to run eclipse, jboss, some DB (MySQL or Oracle express)
