Is it possible to have a backgound program running within Matlab from the command window, like in UNIX/Linux?
What I would acomplish in particular is that I want a dot in a figure, say, figure 1, be flashing
by turning it on/off with the set(ch(1),'Visible','on/of
Experts, if it is not possible to have multiple processes acessing a figure (or object it you will) in Matlab. Are there any other packages or solutions to this kind of problems?

Hi,
its.com/sh owthread.p hp?t=8815 describes. They suggest that you use a timers exprired event to fire your action (in your case turning the visibility on and off). That way the processor isnt tied up in a pause.
I think what you are after is called Threading. MATLAB doesnt specifically have threading but you can simulate it as http://forum.allaboutcircu
Hope this helps
