Browse All TopicsHi,
I have written a webapp consisting of html pages, asp pages, JScript and VBScript. The problem is that when I installed it on the server and tried to run it, I got this error:
Method Not Allowed
The requested method POST is not allowed for the URL /~csolomon/Instructions.as
--------------------------
Apache/1.3.29 Server at www.commarts.wisc.edu Port 16080
When I asked the server tech about it. I got this response.
OS X Server is based on a Darwin kernel. To access the server, you
would open an SSH shell to port 22. You would then be greeted with a
standard posix compliant shell prompt.
This made no sense to me. The website runs fine on my machine. I am
running Windows98SE with PersonalWebServer. It seems to be that
it's a server configuration issue. Am I wrong? Do I need to do something?
This is very important to me. I'd very much appreciate some assistance.
Thank you in advance,
Cindy

Cindy,
You got mixed up in server incompatibility issues.
Your application runs ASP pages.
Apache does not support ASP pages.
In order to make Apache run ASP pages, you must install a J2EE server with Apache, and buy (for a bundle) either ChiliSoft from Sun, or Stryon's solution.
Neither of these is applicable in your case.
If I were the system administrator of your educational institution, I would not let you connect your PC directly to the internet.
Hence, the only thing for you to do, is to REWRITE your entire application in a scripting language that is supported by your Apache server. I bet that either Perl or PHP will do.
