java.net.SocketException: Broken pipe Exception

Hi,

We are running Weblogic 8.1 server and sometimes see this error in the logs:  java.net.SocketException: Broken pipe.  What is this and how can I resolve it.

this is most likely caused by a connection rejection by weblogic. try setting your open file size to (file-max) greater to what it is now. e.g. 65535

The problem I faced was with an external server that was closing the connection after a period of inactivity, for example more than 10 minutes.  I set up a cron process to ping the server every 5 minutes to keep the connection alive that resolved the problem.

If you can identify the process that is getting closed,  you can probably do something similar.
