Minimum Heap Size for Sun Java Application Server

Asked by yongsing in Application Servers

Our client is using Sun Java Application Server version 8 and 9 for two applications. They want to reduce the JVM maximum heap size from 512MB to 256MB. We advised them against doing it as it may impact the performance and may cause out of memory problem. However, they asked whether we can produce a measurable report that shows that the heap size can exceed 256MB.

Is there any way we can do that? Or is there a general guideline on the minimum heap size to set?
