Webshere application server upgrade

We have a simple setup of Websphere Application server version 6.0.1.0 and need to upgrade to 6.1.  Installed and used with this is IBMs Websphere Information Integragrator Content Edition version 8.3.  We also need to upgrade that to version 8.5.1 (now called Content Integrator).  Anyone have knowledge/experience in upgrading Websphere Application Server from 6.0.x to 6.1?

The "upgrade" from WebSphere Application Server (WSAS) 6.0 to 6.1 is not a simple "fix pack" type of installation.

They are considered 2 distinct versions of the product, so this would need to be  considered a "migration" of your WSAS 6.0 to 6.1.

There are lots of sections in the documentation related to migration.

thanks for your input.  I have looked at both the webshere and content integrator documentation at lenght.  One thing i'm still trying to get my hands around is this: IF I migrate from websphere 6.0.1 to 6.1, how will that affect the node/profile I have defined in websphere for IICE  (the 8.3 version of information integrator for content).  Even though I will next be setting up content Integrator wondering if the current 8.3. version will work with Websphere Application Server 6.1

Unfortunately, IICE 8.3 does not support WebSphere Application Server version 6.1.

It will also be "out of support" next April, so you may want to investigate / consider going to ICI 8.5.1, which, by the way, doesn't require WebSphere Application Server.
