cannot open and Edit a content

Hi
We are using arbortext epic editor for authoring content, one of the user can't able to edit the content, we don't have any further information it's in production.

Error message is : " A12148 Document C:\ Documnetum \ Checkout\ does not exist Do you want to create a new document Tes\No".

my assumption is that checkout operation is executed but the content is not copied to checkout directory.
what could be reason.
