Question

Drupal Debug Mode

Asked by: harington

Instead of displaying content, my website shows the code it is executing. Using the Views-Mail module I ticked "debug-mode" mistakenly. Now I cannot get the site out of debug-mode. What must I do to get it back to showing content?

I assume you're using the Drupal 6 version, which (from what I can tell) only had debug mode added because it's not in stable release yet.

This hasn't been solved yet by the maintainer of the module, there are a few people complaining of the same problem.

I will look into this, but I'll have to get a local version running with the module so I can take a look at what's going on in the database. For the time being, I recommend you create a bug slip here: http://drupal.org/project/issues/views_mail?text=&status=All&priorities=All&categories=All&version=6.x&component=All

Yes, I am using Drupal 6. Thank you very much for your response. Where  did you see that others are complaining about the same thing? I searched, and searched, and searched....!? I shall complete a bug slip ASAP. Please let me know as soon as you have had a look at what is going on in the database? Any assistance will certainly help a lot in my current state of predicament.

Sorry about the time delay in getting back to you.

So, I set up a local Drupal 6 environment, and installed Views mail (Additionally, I made sure its dependencies were enabled: Views, Simplenews, Taxonomy)

At: mysite.com/admin/settings/views_mail I found the setting you were referring to (debug mode). I enabled it, and have not noticed any of the problems you were referring to. My local environment is still operating normally.

One thing to try. Try accessing specific pages by manually modifying the URL.

To log in:
1. Goto: mysite.com/user/login (replacing mysite.com with your domain)
If this is successful:
2. Goto: mysite.com/admin/settings/views_mail
If this is successful:
3. Uncheck debug mode and save.

If this doesn't work, then it looksl ike something else is going on, separate from Views Mail, and would be nearly impossible to troubleshoot unless you can list any other specific things you did (ex. modules you added, code you changed, etc) that may have caused this.

I don't mean to insinuate that this is by any strech of the imagination an unsolvable problem, just that it is in this specific context (for me and others on here that haven't specifically seen this happen), as we don't have access to your database, etc.

Thx for your trouble. Much appreciated. I have tried this, but still get only code when I try to go to the views_mail settings (as you recommended). This means I cannot turn debug mode off. Please see the attached pdf file. Is there a way that I can safely get my email adress to you?

by: haringtonPosted on 2009-11-06 at 03:29:43ID: 25758220

In "desperation" I scrolled down a long way after arriving at the views_mail settings screen, and voila - the ability to get to un-ticking debug mode! Thx to your suggestion, my site is now up an runnng again. You are a star! Many thx.

I was desperate. Had no response from logging the problem on the Drupal site. Many thx for assisting promptly!
