Thanks jgmontgo.
There is no "Deactivate..." option, only "Registration...", but that just takes me to Adobe.com to fill in details.

Browse All TopicsI have bought a Mac on Ebay which has Adobe Acrobat 8 installed. I have my own licenced copy of the software which I wish to install instead. I tried to do this but the old serial number reappears after I install the new copy and I can't enter my own serial number. Is there any way I can do this without re-formatting the whole hard drive and starting again (which will take ages)?

There is a help page on the Adobe website on how to uninstall Adobe Acrobat and other CS products

And this explains about Adobe Serial issues
http://kb.adobe.com/selfse
Basically, Adobe only recommends a complete uninstall and re-install of Acrobat .. and I've found that there is no easy way just to remove some license file and ask it to re-enter the serial.
So .. you DO NOT need to reformat the whole drive .. however you have 2 options
1. Live with the current license, safe in the knowledge that you do own a license and are OK.
2. Uninstall Adobe Acrobat (using the instructions from the link above) and re-run the installer from the DVD and then you can enter your own license

I am not sure about the Mac version but it seems that the Windows Version had a setting that would allow for the relocation of the software. If it is consistent with the other Adobe applications this will be the case.
Look under the "Help" Menu to see if there is a "Deactivate..." option. If there is use it.
