A question that often comes up is how to prevent users from sending mail externally without affecting their ability to email each other.

In previous versions of Exchange there was no sure fire, clean way to achieve this. With Exchange 2007 and 2010 we can use Transport rules to give us a very fine grained approach to managing this scenario.

We see 3 or 4 requests every day for how to configure a shared mailbox. Now that Exchange 2010 is growing in uptake, more of those requests are for this facility in Exchange 2010. With Exchange 2010 the process has slightly changed, for the better.

Create the Mailbox

So from a machine i can send emails via code.

We are planning to upgrade our Exchange 2007 server from sp1 to sp2. On our Exchange server we have the Hub Transport, Client Access and Mailbox roles, we also have a separate Edge server with the Edge Teransport role. In the sp2 release notes it suggests upgrading the servers in this order:
Client Access servers
Unified Messaging servers
Hub Transport servers
Edge Transport servers
Mailbox servers
If I run the sp2 upgrade on the Exchange server first will it let ...
