  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. EMERGENCY!!! Exchange 2000 server is dead!

hi all,

my exchange 2000 server is dead; users cant send / recieve /logon to the exchagne server.
its almost a week, now that the users were facing delays in mails, (now totally dead); so i tried to fix exchange serverby reintalling it. Let me put it step by step thing that i did.
(we have SBS 2000 with exchange 2000 standard)

1.Reinstalled Exchange 2000 server from CD3
2.rebooted, and nothing worked, i copied the exchsrvr folder to the 2nd partition for backup (too late for it, but still)
3.ran setup /disasterrecovery; followed all the step prompted; restarted server
4.now cant mount mail box store or public store, virtual Drvie M: is missing too.
5.ran eseutil and isinteg as well, still not mounting stores;
Now i just checked the exchagne server version its 6.0.4417.0, so this means there is no SPs' installed on it.

Now i want to fix this issue.
I wanna mount the mailbox store and the public store;
Dont want to miss all the previous mails in the mailbox database;
Update to latest SPs'
and start sending n recieving mail.

Now the situation is i am unable to mount the mail store and re-load the Drive M:
As my exchange server is without any service packs, by installing SP1, then moving to SP2, and later to SP3, will it fix my problem.
Basically, installing SP1 now, will fix the problem or not?
