Can't delete email - Unknown error - Outlook 2000

Why can't I delete or open a particular email? I keep getting an unknown error.  I am using Outlook 2000 SP3 and Exchange Server 2000.

Try holding the SHIFT key as you press the DELETE key on this problematic email message..

Jason's answer should work.  But if it does not, try disabling your Anti-virus and deleting the message.  AV may be locking it.
