Our WIN2K exchange 5.5 server crashed badly and needed to be rebuilt from scratch. Before rebuilding it, I managed to get the following folders copied on to a seperate hardrive: MDBDATA, DSDATA, MSDATA
We've now rebuilt the server and started with a fresh Exchange 2003 install. However, I need to get access to some important email - especially stuff in public folders - that was on the the old exchange 5.5 server.
I built a seperate WIN2K / exchange 5.5 box, and installed active directory etc. I even used the same domain and machine name etc. I was hoping that I could simply copy the old exchange folders into the appropriate path on this box, and then get access to all the old email. The plan then was to export what I needed to .PST files. Anyhow, this approach did not work - there's obviously more to be done than the simple steps I took :)
What am I missing? Help greatly appreciated.
