How would the user switch between the two?
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI have an Exchange 2000 server running on Windows Server 2k with the newest service packs on both. I have set up 2 domains and set the MX records properly so that email sent to user@domain1.com and user@domain2.com will both go to user's email box, which works fine. The thing I am drawing a blank from is if user send an email it shows as coming from user@domain1.com which is the default domain. However, there are times when I would like to send email from user@domain2.com. There are employees that are working for both companies in the same building which is why I would like to do this. Any help is appreciate. Thank you.

For outgoing emails, you can setup Outlook to show a FROM section on your emails. Simply type in who the email should be from if the second account needs to be used (ie. USER2). It is not necessary to use the full SMTP address; just the alias. If the FROM is left blank, then the default account is used. I would give you the exact directions, but I am away from work today and I do not have Outlook installed here.

In Exchange 2000, it is one mailbox per user object. You can create aliases for incoming email, but to send-as, you must have a second user object/mailbox. Create a second user object in Active Directory, mailbox enable it, assign the permissions to the first account to allow it to send-as and then disable the second user account.
