I am using outlook 2003 and exchange 2003. I want to send out emails with from field as one of my alias email address, so that the recipient will see my alias email address. I got error message : You do not have permission to send to this recipient. How should I set up exchange server ?

If you have multiple aliases then i suggest using simon's option 1. If you do then when you create a new message click "from" in the options button on the toolbar. When you do that the "from" field will appear above the "To" field. you should then be able to choose which address you want to send from.

If this email address is not your default address on your account then it cannot be done natively.
There are three options:
1. Transfer the SMTP address to a Distribution Group. Give yourself "Send As" permission on this distribution Group.
2. There are some third party tools that let you choose which address the email goes out with.
3. Setup different accounts for each alias, give yourself Full mailbox access and use the From field. Use the forward feature in Exchange to send any email received to those mailboxes to your primary one.
If you have done your alias in another way, then please explain.
