Simon,
Thanks for the advice, so if the current one died stand up a new one but change the name of the new one just to be safe right.
Thanks
Mike

Browse All TopicsWe have an exchange front end server that we use for OWA. We have a back end cluster (active/passive). Everything is working well.
What I'm thinking about is what if the FE server were to die. I could set up NLB clustering on the box but that doesn't seem to be a true redundant solution because traffic will still go to that failed node.
Do you all have any suggestions?
Follow-up -- If the current FE died and we built a new FE is it as simple as deleted in the old one from ESM and ADU&C and then standing up a new FE.
Thanks as usual
Mike

You have no limit on the number of frontend servers that you can run.
Therefore you could just put another frontend server up and use round robin DNS or network load balancing.
If the current one died, then pull it out of Exchange manually and put up a new one. I would use a different name so that you can be sure you are removing the correct entries from the domain.
