OWA not working from internet

I am running the following, and need to get Outlook Web Access working on the inside network as well as the internet:

 Exchange Server 2003 (only one server in the exchange organization), SP1 on Windows Server 2003 Standard

 I have setup an alternative (A) record for the exchange server inside,
 e.g. hosta.domain.com, can connect to the server from the inside network via
hosta.domain.com/exchange, and successfully login with domain\user and
 password, but I am having trouble from the internet.  I have added an (A)
 record for the mapped public address that I would like to use, but it will
 not resolve the hosta.domain.com/exchange url. It says page cannot be
 displayed.   I have opened port 80 and 443 on the firewall to make this
 happen.  What other steps am I missing? Thank you.
