The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Exchange2003 - Client does not have permission to submit mail to this server

Asked by rdbconcepts in Exchange Email Server

Tags: , , , ,

Hi

I have a new exchange server 2003 and have been testing it... everything is fine so long as no one externally wants to email us!

Having looked on the site here, I ran the tests at dnsstuff which returned the following message;

-mail Tester results for sue.evans@rdb-concepts.com
Generated by www.DNSstuff.com

Getting MX record for rdb-concepts.com (from local DNS server, may be cached)... Got it!

Host Preference IP(s) [Country] mail.rdb-concepts.com. 10 217.33.62.54 [UK] --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 1:  Try connecting to the following mailserver:
         mail.rdb-concepts.com. - 217.33.62.54

Step 2:  If still unsuccessful, queue the E-mail for later delivery.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Trying to connect to all mailservers:

   mail.rdb-concepts.com. - 217.33.62.54  [Could not connect: Got an unknown MAIL FROM response: 454 5.7.3 Client does not have permission to submit mail to this server.
]

Can anyone give me a clue what permission is set that is blocking this? I have restarted the smtp server and have checked that the MX records are correct.
So far as I can tell they are - we currently have an exchange 2000 server running on the same IP and is the domain controller (same domain name) which works fine. (I was taking the 2000 server off the network before putting the 2003 server on)

Our dns server is also our firewall - which is an old linux machine if that makes any difference...

Any help would be wonderful!
Thanks
