I can't remove Exchange 2000 Server from a server because not all mail boxes were removed. I have two mailboxes left which I can't delete: SMTP (Servername) and System Attendant. Does anyone has an idea how to solve this?

Hi 2good2 .
there is no Problem to remove the exchange from the server if those are the only Two Mailboxes the left .
Please check that no "mailbox store" using this server Public store by opening the exchange system manager .
Administrative Groups>First administartive group>servers>{Server name}>{storage group}>{mailbox store}. right Button and Properties then check the default public store .
Open ADSIedit.msi (to run this u need to have support tool installed on your server. Can install them from Windows OS CD)
It will open a window in raw mode, go to Configuration Partition -> Click on MSExchange -> Organization Name -> Administrator Group -> U will see the Administrator group in which u have ur server -> Server -> It will show your server name -> First Storage Group -> It will show your mailbox store -> You have to right click and go to properties you will see many attributes and values "You have to find a value HOMEMDBL" Double click on this value. If you FIND user name. Try finding that user name in your ADUC. Take backup of that mail and remove its exchange attributes.
*DO NOT DELETE ANY THING ELSE FROM EDSIEDIT*

check the properties of the mailbox store via asdiedit
check the value called "homemdbbl" (i don't recall the exact name, but it is something like this)
this will show u the list of mailboxes in the database. once that is out u can select those users from active directory users and computers and remove their exchange attributes.
else u can remove exchange manually
