The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Unable to delete email afer mailbox move

Asked by ajj1 in Exchange Email Server

Tags: email, exchange, from, unable

In our exchange organisation we had 1 ex2k3 sp1 server. This server wasn't partioned correctly and subsequently our backup solution didnt like it, so we decided to build a new exchange server (with the correct partitions) that it would like.

Once this server was built we installed exchange 2k3 sp1 then sp2, created some test users and everything seemed ok....
now for the fun part!

On the original server we use to use the default mailbox store, to try and make things a little more sensible I split it up into 3 more storage groups (A,B and C) each containing 2 mail stores (dept name).

The we started the mass move of mail boxes (usually overnigt).

Now I have moved all of the mailboxes from one server to other and everything seemed OK BUT THEN.....

Users started complaining that they couldn't delete some of their emails (we use outlook 2k with sp3) which seemed strange but not unusual as a quick reinstall of outlook solved the problem. However this problem is getting worse with more and more users now trying to delete stuff and finding that they cant???? and reinstalling 1000 outlook clients just isn'y viable.

This weekend I have started public folder replication between the 2 servers and once again (some) users (not the same ones that are have MB problems) have complained that they cant access there public folders...

Anyone got any ideas or had any similar problems?

Im sure this is permissions based and have seen something on google (although I cant remember where) about being unable to access resources if they are in different information stores, but this does seem a little silly.

The other major bugbear is a permissions one. On the original server Domain Admins had full MB access (permission inheritance had been removede) on the new server the inherited permissions say that Domain Admins haved been denied full MB access and I can't seem to change this. When I went to the top level to remove the permissions, the copy option said it was going to change 30 different permissions and I got scared and decided against it. Is there a safe way to do this?

500 points as I really need the help on this one and exchange can be a real mind boggler sometimes!
