The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Exchange 2003 "An SMTP protocol error occurred."

Asked by EmpyrionTechnologies in Exchange Email Server

Tags: error, smtp, exchange, protocol, 2003

This is regarding Exchange 2003 on a SBS 2003 server.
A little background on this issue is.

I can send to every domain except one, which is a different email server that I manage that is on a linux box.  I get this error message in the Event viewer everytime I send a message to this domain.

Event Type:      Error
Event Source:      MSExchangeTransport
Event Category:      NDR
Event ID:      3015
Date:            6/12/2006
Time:            11:19:19 AM
User:            N/A
Computer:      BLACKSERVER
Description:
A non-delivery report with a status code of 5.3.0 was generated for recipient rfc822;lkullman@empyrion.net (Message-ID <6BADCB664F403D4F9874873BC78C3D162530@BLACKSERVER.chpa.local>).
Causes: Exchange mistakenly attempted mail delivery to an incorrect MTA route.
For more information, click http://www.microsoft.com/contentredirect.asp.
Solution: Check your route and topology; use the winroute tool to ensure the routes are properly replicated between servers and routing groups.

The returned message I get in the user's email box is this:

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Subject: test
Sent: 6/12/2006 12:23 PM

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

  user@domainthatcannotreach.net on 6/12/2006 12:23 PM
The message cannot be delivered due to a configuration error on the server. Please contact your Administrator.
  <server.domain.local #5.3.0 smtp;553 5.3.0 <Administrator@sending domain.com>... No such user here>

Also in Exchange System Manager under Queues In the addition information part it says

"An SMTP protocol error occurred."

Any help would really be appreciated

thanks
