What I'm working with:
Exchange Server 2003 Enterprose Edition
Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition
(All Service Packs and Updates Applied)
I was assigned the task of restoring a users mailbox all the way back to the 1st day of the new year. I have all the Information Store backups on tape (Backed up using Symantec Backup Exec 10d w/ Exchange Agent (Not doing mailbox backups just Store)). I have already gone the Recovery Storage Group route and it seems to be giving me some issues with mounting and dismounting the Store. It keeps bombing out the MMC and in turn basically locks the file so I cannot move on to the next restore because the current database is in use. I cannot keep stopping and starting the Store during the day when this happens so that is not an option. I am looking for a little guidance from people who have had to do this before without the aid of a 3rd party application like ontrack powercontrols. I would like to stop doing restores to the production exchange server to avoid any other issues that may affect production. With Exchange 2003 is a Recovery Server still an option? I know that they created the Recovery Storage Groups to avoid this but I am just a little worried at this point. Let me know what you all think.
Thanks in Advance.
