Browse All TopicsAfter SMTP reinstall (which was later found to be unnecessary) the server will not accept email.
If you telnet into port 25, the only rcpt format it'll take is user@SERVERNAME.domain-nam
user@domain.com and user@domain.local will not work.
I assume this is a SMTP related issue as that's all that's been touched.

I can tell you right now that the KB you are reading did not tell you to reinstall the SMTP service.
So, reinstall exchange. This isn't me guessing, this is me telling you that by reinstalling the windows SMTP service, you have damaged it's interaction with exchange - untill you reinstall exchange, it isn't going to work.

Then you will need to reinstall Exchange over the top again.
