Question

You must have at least one SMTP VSI in this routing group to create a routing group connector

Hi,

Just installed another Exchange2003 server in current native Exchange2003 org, new Administrative group and getting this problem when trying to create new Routing Group connector or SMTP connector:

You must have at least one SMTP VSI in this routing group to create a routing group connector


Found this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318475

But does not make any sence because there is Default SMTP Virtual Server under same Administrative group.

Please HELP!!!

You can have two exchange servers in one administrative group yet place them in two different routing groups.It appears that your installation of the new exchange server is not healthy.Do one thing.delete the SMTP virtual server instance,or disable it for safety.Create a new smtp virtual server instance,give it the same port (25).and then try to create  a routing group connector with this new VS.

Hope this hleps.If you are unsucessful.Please post the exact error message in the event logs.

That was it, it was installed in new Administrative group but in different Routing Group.  
Started fresh, uninstalled exchange, deleted Administrative Group.
Created new Administrative Group with Routing Group and installed Exchange into that new group.  Works now.

Its pretty old Post. But there is better way to do it then reinstall exchange. Just move the member from other routing group Member to new one. Then try creating the connector. You will get this error if there are no Members
