What is SBS? We are using Exchange Server 2000. Those are good ideas, I will check to see AV and our Firewall. Let me know what SBS is. Thanks

Browse All TopicsMy Exchange Server is blocking all zip file attachments and returning the following emails to the sender.
Technical details of permanent failure:
PERM_FAILURE: SMTP Error (state 16): 550 Error: Bad attachment file name extension: Type
I would like to know where I can change it so it doesn't block zip files and just to see what other file attachment the server blocks.
Thanks

If you don't know your way around the server I would suggest that you call a consultant to look at the machine for you. If you start looking around for the problem you will struggle and could cause damage that will stop email from flowing correctly. As most companies consider email to be their most critical application, someone who knows what they are doing with the product could well cause downtime that is not acceptable.
SBS is usually identified by right clicking on My Computer and choosing Properties. The version information is displayed on the first screen.

Are you using SBS?
If not, then it isn't Exchange blocking the messages, it is something else. AV is the usual suspect, but it could also be something on your firewall.
