Windows 2000 SBS Premium Edition SP4 Running Exchange Server 2000 and SQL Server. 1.3 GHZ CPU 3 GB PC 133 Ram with 5.5 GB Boot\System partition that has 300 MB of free space. Has 2 36 GB Mirroerd SCSI Hard Drives. 10 users. Server is unstable and not able to handle the workload which is running Client Profiles, Exchange server, file & print services, AVG AntiVirus and Ninja AntiSpam. Print Services will randomly stop and The Exchange Server store will stop on occaision. Just not enough resources to keep everything running.
Will be upgrading to a new server running Windows 2003 SBS Premium edition, will not use ISA server. It seems I have two choices a complete server migration which requires a complete reinstall of PC Law or removing the 10 desktops from the domain. Installing the New server with the same domain info and server name as the old domain and Joining the desktops to the new domain. The second option would still also require movvng the 2000 Exchange Sever Store to Exchange Server 2003. I have never done either of these but I have read all the documentation I can find on Migrating Windows 2000 SBS to Windows 2003 SBS. So I am looking for so real world advice as a detailed plan without experience can lead to a long weeked. So The question is which would be a better approach with a higher likely hood of success with minimal errors or Issues?
