Hangs in connection to Exchange 2003

Asked by bheroniphr in Exchange Email Server, Outlook Groupware Software, Network Management

We have a 45 node domain and for mail we use Exchange 2003 with Outlook 2007.

Often some of our clients get long delays in connecting to the server. The Outlook icon in the system tray shows a egg-timer and sometimes the delay can be for as long as 2 or 3 minutes.

Our network is Gb and there are no bottlenecks between these clients and the exchange server. The server is a stand-alone exchange server with no other apps and is a 3Gb Xeon HP Proliant DL360. I am sure the issue is not with our network of server hardware.

Has anyone ever seen this behaviour or have any possible suggestions as to what may be causing the hangs?
