Unable to view Private Mailbox Store in Exchange 2003 ESM

I have the same problem that was dealt with in this solution 22080763, I've tried to drill down using the ADSI tool but get the same error as the user in the problem referenced above.  However, when I try to run the script outlined in the accepted solution I keep getting an error.  Here is the command I'm typing in exactly -

(For reference the server name is hdmailserver, domain name is hooperdolan.ie)

dsacls CN=MailboxStoreHDMAILSERVER,CN=FirstStorageGroup,CN=InformationStore,CN=HDMAILSERVER,CN=Servers,CN=FirstAdministrativeGroup,CN=AdministrativeGroups,CN=MicrosoftExchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=hooperdolan,DC=ie /P:N

The system cannot find the file specified.

The command failed to complete successfully.

I'll do it again to double check, does it matter if i run it from the exchange server?
no
the windows support tools should be installed
i'm running it from exchange server, support tools installed, i can see the dsacls.exe in program files but i'm still getting the error.
ok
install the windows 2000 support tools on another box
use adisedit.msc using the support tools that are installed with windows 2000 support tools to get into the properties of the mailbox store
when you try to get into the properties, you will get an error but click on OK and it will let you get into the properties
one you are in the properties, you can go into the security/permissions tab and remove the "deny" permissions that were setup earlier.
Got an error the first time I tried to access properties and then nothing after subsequent attempts to access
try again by closing adisedit and opening it again
after you click ok on the error the properties come up ONLY if you are using the windows 2000 support tools.
by the way the error is An Invalid Directory Path name was passed
also, when i use adsi edit the Class section of the private information store is blank and the public one has MSExchPublicMDB in the Class section is this relevant?  Checking other working Exchange servers I see that they have MSExchPrivateMDB in this section.
I've been using Server 2003 disk, I'll try to dig out a 2000 one
