Browse All TopicsWe have a SBS2003 box, 1 nic w/ router to the internet. This is a standard box, no ISA, no extras except MS updates & service packs. Exchange and OS are at SP2. We do not have a FQDN on the internet side of the router. When we want to remote in to the office we use the router outside IP address.
We're attempting to get company owners smartphone (palm treo 700wx) hooked in for a direct push connection for email. We can make connection http://IPaddres\exchange for OWA. However the phone fusses about the certificate for the direct push connection. Error 0x80072f06 which appears to be a naming issue in the certificate.
I personally have very little experience with pocket pc's or certificate building so bear with me please and forgive obvious oversights..Is there away to build a certificate that will reflect the IP adress as the name? Is it possible to edit the certificate to reflect the naming difference? Or, and this probably isn't an option, is it possible to build a lookup table on the phone to translate IPaddress to certificate name? Other options that I haven't mentioned besides 3rd party certificates? Or would 3rd party certificates have a similar issue since there is no FQDN?
