Email's sent to my new Exchange Server keep timing out

I have set up exchange to use my domin name of "ace-eng.org".  I went to godaddy.com and from the best of my knowledge setup my A records and MX records.  I have completed DNS test on my domain name and mx records and they were found but when they try to connect to my mail server they say they have timed out.  When I send an email to my server from the outside world it comes back like a day later saying "message was delayed" trying again.  I have a Sonicwall Firewall in place and I have port 25 open and forward to my mail server.  There are not signs of my packets being blocked in the logs which was the first thing I checked.  

Should I have set up my exchange server using mail.ace-eng.org because currently it is setup using   ace-eng.org?  

PLUS I tried to telent in from outside world using "telnet ace-eng.org 25" and it comes back with "421 Cannot connect to smtp server 24.154.148.69 (24.154.148.69), connect error 10060"  But from within my network i get connected i think becuase i can type helo and get a response back.
