The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Different public and private Domian Name

Asked by rodneygray in Exchange Email Server

I am setting up Exchange Server 2007 and I have a couple of related questions. Our internal domain name is abc.com. Our external public domain is abcxyz.com.
1. This is more of a statment than a question. Perhaps someone can affirm my thought process. Our ISP hosted domain (abcxyz.com) has a MX record that points to our static IP address. We presently receive email via Domino/Notes server with an internal IP address of 192.168.1.2 . I have installed Exchange Server 2007 on a server with an internal address of 192.168.1.8. Our firewall port fowards ports 25 and 110 to the Domino server. I am going to disconnect the Domino server and change the address of the Exchange server to the one that was used by the Domino server(192.168.1.2). That should foward emails to my Exchange server. Then, e-mail sent to user@abcxyz.com should arrive at the Exchange server.
2. If the above works, how can I setup exchange server to deliver emails with a return address of user@abcxyz.com and not user@abc.com?
3. To compound the problem, the user id's being used to log on to the internal domain are the initials of the employees name (ie  baf) and the present Domino email address is employee's first name and last initial (ie bradf). Would it be better to change user logons or to create an alias within Exchange server to send/receive emails? Can I setup the alias as the default return address?
