PROGRAMMING MS EXCHANGE - CHANGE EMAIL SUBJECT

Hello everybody,
We are trying to find a way to program Exchange so to change the outgoing email's subject by adding a number (protocol number for us) at the end of it. Two subjects we have to solve, first is how to configure exchange to execute a script whenever a message is submitted and the second is if it is possible to change the subject using this script.

I don't know about the programming side... how you'd tie in to the MS API's or whatever, but there's no built in function to change the subject line or e-mail body in Exchange 2003 that I know of.

If you move up to Exchange 2007 they've added Transport Rules which might be able to do some or all of what you require with little or no additional scripting/programming.  Check out the MS article on Ex2007 Transport Rules at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998860.aspx.
