I am having problems establishing a connection to my SBS Exchange Server via IMAP using Outlook. When I test my connection in the setup screen, it will ask for my login and password 3 times and then error out.
The error given is:
Log onto incoming mail server (IMAP): THe connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact your server administrator or Internet service providor (ISP).
My SBS Exchange Server setup:
-I have setup my server using the information in the following link:
http://www.smallbizserver.net/Articles/tabid/266/ArticleType/ArticleView/ArticleID/231/Default.aspx-IMAP Services is enabled (automatic) and started
-Ports 143 and 993 have been opened in the SBS firewall (we have a 2 NIC server using the SBS firewall only)
My Outlook setup:
-Incoming and Outgoing server address is the same address we use for OWA and RWW
-Login and Password is the same used when logging into OWA or RWW
-Under the More Settings... option
*Outgoing Server Tab: My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication option is checked (and I am logging in using the same login and password as OWA or RWW)
*Advanced Tab: Incoming server (IMAP) is set for SSL and port 993 is listed
It appears that the connection is initially established because when I test the connection in the setup screen it asks to verify the certificate (The server you are connected to is using a security certificate that cannot be verified. Do you want to continue using this server?). I select Yes, which is when it asks for my login and password (3 times) and then fails. Also, when I check the event log on the server, it shows successful logins from the remote computer using my login.
The SMTP outgoing connection seems to work as a test message in the setup screen is sent and shown in my mailbox when I login to my mailbox locally or via OWA.
Does anyone have any suggestions or solution for getting my incoming IMAP connection to establish using Outlook?
Thank you!
