Relaying Denied to previously hosted domain email.

Hi there, we have an SBS2003 server which used to be responsible for 2 email domain names, then the 2nd was removed as it was only 1 user using it, so we made a custom recipient contact for this user, and instructed staff to use that to email him. It worked fine for about 3 months, but now if anyone tries to email him, they get a bounceback straight away saying they can't relay to that domain name.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
