I have a virtual 2003 r2 x64 machine (vmware) that is running on a 2003 r2 server.
I have an existing 2003 SBS network, I have joined the Host machine to the domain, and promoted it. The virtual machine has been ran up and all 2007 pre-reqs have been completed. The installation started but for some totally unknown reason it failed - no error messages no event logs etc..etc
I then removed the virtual machine from the vmware inventory and renamed it, I then created a clean one (from a template) then started the install again, all pre-reqs done again, then I started the Exchagne 2007 installation again.
It failed saying that it can only run in exchange recovery mode, I researched this and had to delete the entries exchange made in AD (2x OU's), I had to also remove an entry in ADSIEDIT and Routing Groups in the existing 2003 Exchange.
After this the exchange 2007 installation started and worked fine, it did the pre-reqs but then failed asking me to run setup.exe /prepareAD - I did this and it failed here :

The Exchange Server setup operation did not complete. Visit

Exchange Server setup encountered an error.

so it fails, I try and remove the entries in ADSIEDIT but it will not allow me saying:
The attribute cannot be modified because it is owned by the system.
---
So I am stuck, I cannot isntall exchange now because of these entries:
MasteredBy
msDs-masteredBy
As they both contain the entry for the BROKEN install of Exchange.
Any help would be appreicated!
Cheers.
