Exchange Failing To Replicate Public Folder To A New Server

Hi there.

Got a problem here that is stumping me. Despite searching previous posts, I can't find a solution, so I'm hoping someone can help.

I manage a Exchange organisation consisting 8 Exchange servers, spread over 7 sites. All works well. At our HQ, the mail server is becoming close to filling point, so I've set up Exchange server number 9 to take the load off this server.

As a test, I moved my own mailbox onto it. Email sends and receives fine. However I get the error message 0x8004010F which relates to the Offline Address Book not syncing.

However - I also discover that the Public Folder hierarchy is not present within my Outlook. And on looking at the System Manager on the new Exchange server i can see that the public folder is not synchronised on the server. If I connect to any other server, it's there. Connect back to the new server, it's not.

So I see there is a problem here synchronising public folder information to the new server. I've switched on Message tracking. And forced a "Synchronize Hierarchy". I see the originating Public Folder server send out the changes, and on the other servers I can see the changes being received (except for the new server) - which is blank.

As I said, email sends and receives fine. It is only Public Folder updates which are not coming across.

So the two issues I have are Offline Address Book not syncing and Public Folders not syncing - which I dare say are related.

So any ideas where this problem can be? In the past, when I add an Exchange Server to our organisation all this information sync's automatically with no user intervention.

Any help would be appreciated.. I'm pulling my hair out here!!

Many thanks
Colin.

Did you added the new server as a replica for offline address list PF and corporate PF?

Hi there - thanks for the reply.

Yes I have - they were put in my default.

I think I may have found the problem, Public Folders are sent using e-mail messages. When I look at the Message tracking for Public Folder Store (Server Name) I can see communication between all the Exchange servers.

Despite the replication changes including the new server, when I look at the Message Tracking on the new server, these are not being received....

I do not understand this, as I have migrated the IT department mailboxes onto the new server and these mailboxes are sending and receiving e-mail okay with no problems.

The issue appears to be with the Public Folder replication, and in particular the transport of the replication messages.

Thanks.
