I forgot to mention that Exchange is on a Virtual Server... If the network connection is saturated - what can we do? Or if it is being overworked...

Browse All TopicsOur Environment Consists of Exchange 2003 and the latest SP, Outlook 2003 SP3. We have 225 users on One Exchange Server. We have two Global Catalogs. The mailbox sizes range from anywhere from 1MB to 10GB, Total items as low as 81, and as high as 116,000. We always had this issue but it was this bad& We are experiencing Outlook is trying to retrieve data from the exchange server&. Anywhere from a few seconds up to 6 minutes& It is hitting everything including our two citrix servers and now we are experiencing issues on our Blackberry server (BES) receiving / sending delays&

Exchange 2003 on a virtual server is not a supported solution, and this is one of the reasons why.
How much memory does the Exchange server VM have allocated to it?
Click Start, Run and type Perfmon. Change the view to report. Then look at the middle counter. If that goes above 1 constantly then the storage is being thrashed.

sounds like either you exchange server is being overworked (what are it's specs??) or your network connection to the exchange server is saturated.
