Exchange Best Practices Analyzer Errors

Hello,

When I run the ExBPA I keep getting ;
Link State Not Registered
SMTP instance 'Default SMTP Virtual Server' on server ISSRV1 does not support the 'X-LINK2STATE' verb. This will cause routing updates to be frozen.

And
XEXCH50 Not registered
SMTP instance 'Default SMTP Virtual Server' on server ISSRV1 does not support the 'XEXCH50' verb. This may cause public folder replication problems.

I have reinstalled exchange twice already and still get the errors.  Does this matter and does anyone know how to fix it?

I just realized I'm running AVG on this box it has an email filter.  Should I disable it and run the exchange installation again?

I have AVG on antoher server built the exact same way and I don't get the error but I thinking it's because I installed Exchange before AVG.

I'm not running AVG fro Exchange.

SP1 - I'm getting ready to install SP2 but I didn't want to continue until I had all the problems fixed.

W
Turn off the AVG email filter. That will cause a problem. It isn't AVG 8 on that machine by any chance? That screwed up a client's Exchange server earlier this week.

I would service pack the machine before proceeding any further. Get all the updates for Windows and Exchange installed first, then run the BPA again.

Simon.
Thanks Simon.  Should I reinstall exchange after turning off AVG? or just run the analyzer? I didnt' want to install SP2 if I had to reinstall.

W
I turned off AVG and then reinstalled. It's SBS so I jsut reinstalled using the SBS tool.  Then I added SP2 adn it still does the same thing.  Should I try completely removing exchange and then resintalling it from scratch?

Everything looks correct in that message. It may have been a false positive in the EXBPA report.

Simon.
Yeah.  I noticed that.  It keeps showing those errors everytime I run it though.  Do you think it's "normal' for it to keep running a false positive like that?

Mail does seem to flow ok.

W
EXBPA should tell you what is wrong and provide a link to the fix. What does the link say?

Simon.
Both links indicate that I should reinstall.   I tried that using the SBS set up.  DO you think I should try uninstalling everything and trying again?

I have an SBS 2003 SP2 Box with the same issue.  I telnet in and get the same reply as you, and I haven't been experiencing anything out of the ordinary.  I am running Sophos anti virus with no exchange or e-mail filtering.  I am also needing to know if this error can be safely ignored.

Thanks,
-Scott
How long have you been running exchange without any problems?

it's got to be some kind of false reading.  I was on the fence about reinstalling completely but now I don't think I/m going to do it.  Who knows maybe it's something with SBS.

Thanks for your input.  If think of anything else please let me know.

Wes
Well.  Here's the points. I split them up.  We may never know the answer but I appreciate everyone's help on this.
