The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Can't open links in Outlook Web Access
Tags: Microsoft, Outlook Web Access, 2003
We are running Exchange 2003 and running Outlook Web Access.  Everything works great in OWA, but when you try to open any links in any email a new browser window opens with another OWA login.  At this point if you try to login again you get the following message, "You could not be logged on to Outlook Web Access. Make sure your domain\user name and password are correct, and then try again."  Right now everyone has to copy and paste any links into the address bar.

This problem occurs in IE7 as well as Firefox and it is doing it on any computer.  Thanks for any help.

Hello world844,

You may need to register some dll files
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q281679&sd=tech
1. Quit all programs that are running.
2. Click Start, and then click Run.
3. Type regsvr32 urlmon.dll, and then click OK.
4. When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded" message, click OK.

If using Vista and you get an error, run regsvr32.exe from an elevated command prompt. To get an elevated command prompt, right-click on the "Command Prompt" shortcut and select "Run as Administrator".

If this does not resolve the problem, repeat steps 2 through 4 for each of the following files (in step 3, replace Urlmon.dll with each of the file names below):

Shdocvw.dll
Actxprxy.dll
Oleaut32.dll
Mshtml.dll
Browseui.dll
Shell32.dll

Hope this helps!

I went through each one, but that did not help.  I should mention links open normally everywhere but in Outlook Web Access.  Links in Microsoft Outlook open fine.  All the computers I have tried this on are Windows XP Professional.

Is the server full up to date?
Not just Exchange 2003 SP2, but the post service pack updates?

This can also be caused by an authentication problem on one of the virtual directories.

Well, you just made me discover another issue.  I hadn't realized it, but for some reason the Windows Server 2003 SP2 update is failing.  I am trying to get it to run now so I can install some other updates that are in the waiting.  I am trying to figure out why it is failing now.  I will get everything updated and see if that solves it.

Well...that was quite a task.  I have spent most of the weekend trying to get SP2 Installed.  I finally got it and then installed the remaining post SP2 updates.  I honestly couldn't believe it, but the links are now working in Outlook Web Access.  That must have been it.  Thanks for the help!

sangamc - this is an old question. Unlike a forum it is not possible to "bump" questions back up the list. The only people who will see your post are those that have already participated. Instead you should post your question as a new question in the Exchange Server Zone which will allow other experts the chance to see the question and respond.
