Problems receiving email from outside our domain

Asked by ngravatt in Exchange Email Server

Tags: , ,

I am helping someone with an Exchange 2003 problem and they can't receive any email from outside their domain.  I have checked the obivious things like their mx record ; firewall settings ; smtp & services.  Everything appears to be working okay but I think we are missing something.  Everything was working on Friday morning the all of sudden no more email.  Can anybody else provide some inside.

Listed below is an error message that someone sent me that finally received a bounce back after 2 days.
host mailserver.domain.com[1XX.XX.XX.XX]:
mail transaction failed during initialization host

No action is required on your part. Delivery attempts will continue for some
time, and this warning may be repeated at intervals if the message remains
undelivered. Eventually the mail delivery software will give up, and when
that happens, the message will be returned to you.
