I am setting up owa2003 and have run into a permissions issue where when I try to connect to my front end owa server via our firms internal web it firstly displays a windows credentials box but when I try to logon with an account it shows as loading but never loads.
I have been instructed by another expert to follow the steps below on my FE and BE server to sort out this issue:
Start IIS. Click Start, All Programs, Administrative Tools, Internet Information Services.
Backup the metabase just in case. To do this, right-click Default Web Site, click All Tasks, and then click Save Configuration to a File. Type a filename for the file and click OK.
Expand Default Web Site, and then delete the following virtual directories:
Microsoft-Server-ActiveSyn
c
OMA
Exadmin
Exchange
Public
ExchWeb
Start Metabase Explorer. To do this, click Start, All Programs, IIS Resources, and then click Metabase Explorer.
Expand the LM key, right-click the DS2MB key, and then click Delete.
Close Metabase Explorer.
Restart the Microsoft Exchange System Attendant service to re-create the virtual directories in IIS.
My question is what will happen when I delete the ISS folders on my BE server in a live environment?
Also If there are any problems when I delete the virtual dirctories can the above "saving" steps be used to recreate them exactly as they were (including the security credentials)?
