The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Exchange 2007 SP1 can't seem to sync with windows mobile pda's
Tags: 0x80072F0D
Hello. I've spent about 2 days on this and I'm throwing in the towell and asking for help.
Brand new 2007 SP1 setup from scratch. Windows 2003 domain. OWA works perfect for users when I test. Outlook anywhere appears to work fine outside of our network as well. Activesync works fine as long as I don't require SSL. I have tried test cert's from Thawte, RapidSSL, and Globalsign. I've tried loading the Cert's on the PDA's. Still no luck. I keep getting that error message that the cert is invalid. I even went to the exchange management shell and confirmed that the Get-ExchangeCertificate is pointing to the right Cert.
Is there anybody with any idea how this can work? I've seen lots of people on google complaining about it but there doesn't appear to be a universal fix. Any help would be greatly appreciated as we can't go live with exchange until this works.
thanks

Does OWA work with SSL (https://)

03.28.2008 at 04:25AM PDT, ID: 21229351

Then I'd suggest you try with another phone to rule out either phone or OWA

Obvious things to check:
ESM->Global settings->Mobile Services properties, all should be checked.
AD Users & Computers, mobile user properties, Exchange Features tab, mobile services (all 3) enabled

iP've tried with a Samsung ICH-760 from verizon and also with a Verizon (that generic model they have) PDA.
same problem on both.

as for ESM. I assume you mean the Exchange management consol in 2007?

This is for 2003 but have a few things about certificates:
http://www.amset.info/exchange/mobile-85010014.asp

What I know is that for Exchange 2003 forms-based authentication cannot be used with mobile sync if you don't have a FE/BE configuration. With only BE (one Exchange server 2003) you cannot use forms-based auth.

exchange 2007 has no OMA directories. I tried what I could from the instructions but still no go.
I keep getting the error "invalid certificate"
but the cert is fine when i go to the site from firefox or IE.

Maybe you need to update the root certificate list in the phone? If the cert used has no trusted entry in the phone, you'll get an error like this

03.28.2008 at 08:28AM PDT, ID: 21231256
i just tried installing the root cert for rapidSSL (The geotrust Equifax secure global ebusiness CA-1)
same problem on the phone

03.28.2008 at 10:11AM PDT, ID: 21232262
I was able to fix this and here is a fix since i know there isn't much out there on the net.

A verisign test certificate solved the problem. I installed the verisign test root on the PDA's and they sync'd up no problem. I will be purchasing a permanent verisign cert now.

For whatever reason these cert's I tried DID NOT work with windows mobile 5 or 6 and exchange 2007 SP1:

RapidSSL test
Thawte test
Globalsign

So if anyone else in the future runs in to problems that's what happened to me. Thanks
Accepted Solution
