How to temporarily exclude a user from a query based distribution list in Outlook/Exchange 2003?

Is there any way to temporarily exclude a user from a query based distribution group?

Classic example - our company has an 'All Staff' query based distribution group which is used to send mail to everyone for announcements etc. If it was someone's birthday, an email might be sent round organising a surprise party etc, but you wouldn't want to send to the user in question! Is there an easy way to exclude them temporarily? I'm talking  about practical solutions for the end userr, not admin options such as temporarily moving the user in AD etc.

With normal distribution lists in Outlook (user made), you can expand the top group and selectively delete the listed user, however this doesn't seem to be an option for query based distribtuion groups...

Any ideas?

what was the query based on?  cant you remve that attribute from the user?

No that's my whole point - removing user attributes requires administrative intervention and will affect everyone who uses that dstribution group - I've after a simple quick solution or workaround  that any user can use, requiring no more permissions than simply being able to view the query based distribution group...
