HELP1!!

client server, sbs 2003 r2 started getting blown away by (what appears to be) nuwar issue.  in following the instructions in microsoft kb 324958 i disabled outbound mail and began the process of making certain open relaying was not enabled including in isa.

once had i verified that and disabled the guest account (just in case) i began following the instructions for cleaning out the queue.  i made the changes to the sbs smtp connector to make it a specific time delivery and stopped the virtual smtp server and then restarted the virtual smtp server and waited the recommended 10 minutes.  then when i clicked on the queues icon and i see two queues listed (smtp and x400) and under the "state" column it says "Not Available".

all services pertaining to exchange are running.  the only errors in the applications log pertaining to exchange say:
____________________________________________________________________________
This is an SMTP protocol log for virtual server ID 1, connection #110. The client at "220.92.7.77" sent a "ehlo" command, and the SMTP server responded with "501 5.5.4 Invalid Address  ". The full command sent was "ehlo È«±æµ¿.kornet".  This will probably cause the connection to fail.
