The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Exchange connection filtering on multihomed server

Asked by orcic in Exchange Email Server, Anti-Spam Email Software, MS Internet Security & Accel

We have SBS2003 server that we use as a router/firewall, DC and e-mail server.
The server has 8 networks 4 internal and 4 external (see attached picture).
LAN1 has access to WEB, VPN1 and LAN0. (LAN2 has access to WEB, VPN2 and LAN0; LAN3 has access to WEB, VPN3 and LAN0)
Default gateway for Server1 is on WEB interface.
Everything worked just fine, until recently we had to change our MX record to point not to WEB interface, but to VPN3 interface.
Since the default gateway has to be on WEB interface for Server1 I was not able to make my Exchange to receive messages through VPN3 interface.
(On the other side of VPN3 interface I have Cisco 1700 router that NATs VPN3 server's card)
Only way I found as a workaround to this problem was to put SMTP RELAY (using IIS SMTP Virtual server) to other member server (Server2) that relays incoming messages to my Exchange server.

But now I have problem that my Exchange connection filtering (it is set to njabl.org) is not working (because all messages come from my relay server) and we have tons of spam emails each morning.

Is there any way to make connection filtering on IIS SMTP Virtual Server?
Any other suggestions are highly welcomed.
Thanks in advance.
