The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Periodically our exchange server will not accept MAPI connections

Asked by NetworkMike in Exchange Email Server, Outlook Groupware Software

MS exchange 2003 SP2, Windows 2000 SP4, Outlook 2003 clients.

About weekly our outlook clients can not connect to the exchange server.  OWA and our Goodlink clients work with no problems.  No services are stopped (or even blinked as far as Whats up Gold can determine), and the exchange application seems happy.  Nothing I can tell from the event viewer (tons of stuff, but all informational).  Nothing special is happening the nights it "freezes".  It goes down sometime between 10pm and 3am.  Stopping and starting the Microsoft Exchange Information Store SERVICE fixes the problem.  It does not appear to have any trouble stopping or starting.

This has always happened at night but since we have no indication other that the outlook client not being able to connect we are not sure when it happens exactly.  Mailstore maintaince runs nightly from 11pm to 3am.  Veritas Backups also run 2-3am.

What I need is either a fix for the problem (and to know what is going on), or a way of isolating it, or a way or determining exactly when it is happening.  I have a script that sends and receives email (a Whats up Gold script) and this can narrow the time frame, but it is a pain to put together so i am asking here before I take that route.

Thanks
