The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

I transitioned from Exchange 2000 to 2007 over the weekend which went well.

However when I try to back up exchange it doesnt want to work. I am not 100% sure which files I should be backing up? In 2000 I use to back up the information store that was it. However some one said I should be backing up the whole system too.

We have the follow drives on the Exchange 2007 server

OS C:
smtpqueue D:
Database E:
Logs F:
LCRDrive G:

On D is the Logs which in there say Recieve Send Tracking
On E is Exchange\database then with in there we have mailbox database.edb and public folder database.edb
On F: we have nothing at the moment as I need to move the logs from C on to here
On G: we have a folder called LCR which in there is lots of logs and another mailbox database.edb

The chap that was in with me over the weekend enabled LCR.

Now what do I need to back up? I was selecting everything, apart from G. Is this correct?

I havent a clue! I need to run this back up so I can flush the logs and then move the path from C to F then it doesnt get full the C drive.

I have attached the job log with the errors the main ones seem to be

The mapi client is not installed on the exchange which it is!

This one
AOFO: Initialization failure on: "Microsoft Information Store". Advanced Open File Option used: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).
Snapshot provider error (0xE000FF02): One or more of the databases for this storage group are currently dismounted.  This backup is incomplete.  Make sure that all databases are mounted, and then resubmit the backup job.

Its doing my nut in now! I just cant figure it out. I have installed Hot Fix 26 as described in other articles on here.

May be if some one can tell me what it is out of all that I need to back up I can try it again.

Thanks

Catherine
