Browse All TopicsI am having a problem at a client who has already a Exchange Server 2003 configured, the problwem is that when we create a new account in Active Directory it does not give you the option to create a mailbox, you have to go to the exchange Active Directory Users and computers and create from there, i believ this was because he did not run Domain Prep or Forest Prep before configuring the exchange server so that it could propogate the AD schema with the exchange features, how do i go about fixing this problem without reinstalling the server?

this is only because the domain controller you are creating the user on doesnt have Exchange System Manager installed. to do this..
xe and follow the setup screens. Select "Custom" and deselect everything except for the "Microsoft Exchange System Management Tools" **Do not** install Exchange Server/Collaboration on the domain controller.
Put in the Exchange 2003 CD and run <CD Drive>:\setup\i386\setup.e
Apply the appropriate Exchange Service Pack to the system once you have completed the install.
If you need to install any services, the seup program will let you know the prerequisites that you are missing.
